This is a very nice touch and shot from long range.

Hope in the Nets
The Soccer Network is a huge fan of Hope Solo for her skills in the nets and her hot looks. She warm my heart with her words last summer. Lets face it she was right and was ultimately proved correct. We can debate the timing of her words after the crushing loss in the World Cup.
Enjoy her Nike training session.
Nike Blockbuster
I'm from the old school soccer world ... they never made soccer commercials when I was a kid never mind a thriller like this one. With the summer movie season upon us here is a really cool Nike commercial.

A Stoppage Time Thriller
A last-minute own goal by Liverpool's John Arne Riise gave Chelsea a crucial away goal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final 1-1 draw with Liverpool. In the final minute of the game, Chelsea played in a cross from the left side and Riise stooped to try and clear the ball out of the zone, but succeeded only in heading it past the stranded Liverpool goalie to silence the home fans.
Its a classic goal and from the photos it appears to be a fabulous finish expect for the fact its his goal that he is targeting.

An Old Firm Classic
This is a real cracker from Shunsuke Nakamura of Celtic. A wonderful first touch, followed by a blistering bending drive into the back of the net. Wow. The goalie had no chance at all. Pure magic. The swerve is something to marvel.
Nakamura collected a ball 30 yards out and took a touch before rifling an unstoppable swerving shot just inside the right-hand post.

Rapids 4 - Beckham 0
The Rapids crushed the LA Galaxy Saturday evening at The Dick. LA was pretty hapless and looked a lot like the team that missed the playoffs last season. The rebuilt Rapids scored 3 impressive goals and a PK. Colin Clark's one man show to make 4 - nil was an impressive effort. One has to wonder why the Galaxy defense did not provide cover and support to defender Abel Xavier instead of leaving him alone on a island to get smoked by Clark.
Enjoy the return of the MLS.

A Real Mistake for Real Madrid
This weeks highlight from La Liga reinforces why it is important to pay attention to the Ref. As a player you have know what has been called by the man in the funny colored shirt, as is demonstrated in this clip.
Forty-eight seconds into the footage it becomes very apparent Real Madrid's celebration is premature.
Arjen Robben thought he had scored, when a large number of players ran to the corner to celebrate despite the fact that the linesman's flag was up and the referee had not awarded a goal. Real had been in an offside position. Getafe defender David Belenguer took a quick free kick to launch a four-against-two counter-attack that ended with a goal. This goal could ultimately comeback to haunt Real in the race to the title ... a crucial loss of points on this outcome.

The Reds Revenge for the FA Cup
The Reds bounced back from a stunning loss in the FA Cup to beat Serie A leader Inter Milan 2 - nil. The first goal was nice but Gerrard's goal was a masterpiece. A right footed rocket from 25 yds out that was a seeing eye worm burner into the lower 90, beating a diving goalie.

World Cup Qualifers Just Around the Corner
With WC qualifing just around the corner I hope we see more goals like this from Jozy the Great as he becomes a man stay in the US Sr Team. In this highlight Fast Freddy Adu beats to Brazilian Defenders to set up Jozy up for a sweet finish.
This is not Batman and Robin beating some low class CONCACAF team ... this one is against the future of Brazils SR Team.
Weekly Extra - Nike continues to produce interesting videos to promote its athletes and products. Check out this one with Christiano Ronaldo.
